Junos Admit Another Nomination Error

(TORONTO) - After belatedly adding Nickelback to its album of the year category, organizers of the upcoming Juno Awards have acknowledged another error in the nomination process. Blues band Rockit 88's "Too Much Fun" has been added to the list of nominees for blues album of the year, replacing Vancouver blues "Live at Deer Lake."

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) said Gogo's album was initially believed to meet the nomination requirements. But upon further review, it was found to contain previously released compositions that make up more than 25% of the material. According to CARAS, 75% of the compositions had to be material not released on previous albums.

"It's an unfortunate circumstance and undoubtedly difficult for everyone involved," Gogo said in a statement released by his management company Cordova Bay. "That said, I've been doing a lot of writing for a new studio album that I'm really excited about and with any luck, perhaps we'll get another shot at a Juno Award next "

Michael Burke, president of Cordova Bay, said he respected the decision. "I understand that the album is ineligible based on their meaning," Burke said. "I am "

An independent panel of Canadian music industry professionals choose the nominees for blues album of the year, whereas album of the year is determined by sales. The Junos will be held April 4 at Edmonton's Rexall Place and hosted by Alanis Morissette.
